While I couldnt help feel the loss of the landscape and the ecosystems that inhabited its surface I was also mesmerized by the drama of our interventions. The speed and scale of violent disruption would sometimes combine with powerfull weather events and create an extrodinary kind of theatre.

These are paintings of the New Hope Coal Mine at Acland SE QLD. I thought the name of their company was ironic given the issues around burning fossil fuels.
